I have a degree in interior design which covers all aspects of the home. This decorating degree gave me knowledge of homes and design that has followed me through life. I started a cleaning business and was lucky to find wonderful employees. We serviced several homes and business before I semi retired in 2000 and moved to a canal home in Burnt Store Isles, Punta Gorda, Florida.

In our search for our retirement home, there were things we wanted the area to have and Punta Gorda became our place in the sun. Our list looked a little like this; great weather, small town feeling, good medical facilities (Charlotte Memorial is on the top 100 heart hospitals in the US), close to shopping, fast water access to the Gulf of Mexico for fishing and other fun water activities & a major airport close by. We, also, wanted easy access to major attractions when family and friends visited. Everything on our list was here in Punta Gorda.

We fell in love with the Burnt Store Isles community. This is where we wanted to call home. What we liked was the well kept lawns and attractive Florida style homes. My husband wanted a boat, so we decided to live on one of the many canals in this area with direct access to the Gulf of Mexico. Our new Burnt Store Isles community has a club house, tennis courts, and the golf course winds around lakes and is adorned with tropical plantings. The other features we looked for such as; close proximity to hospitals and shopping, were practically in our back yard. From our Burnt Store Isles neighborhood, you can be on Highyway75 within a couple of minutes. Last, but not least, we have wonderful neighbors. For us, Florida has become our home.

Shortly after settling here in Burnt Store Isles, I decide to take up acrylic painting. I took a few lessons at the Visual Art Center in Punta Gorda, Florida. My first painting was of a flower bouquet of lilacs in a vase. Since that time, I completed the Boca Grand Light House on Gasparilla Island painting, The Fishing Pier on Pine Island painting, which are featured on my web site, and several other paintings not shown. Some of these paintings have been on display at our Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda. They chose two hundred paintings to display out of over four hundred entries. The Visual Art Center is near the famous Fisherman’s Village off Marion Street in Punta Gorda. The Visual Art Center host many different types of art shows during the year. Fisherman’s village has colorful shops along the boardwalk of a marina and rest on edge of Charlotte Harbor. Brightly decorated restaurants with outdoor and indoor seating, give visitors and residents a sample of what Florida is all about. Local musicians entertain the shoppers and restaurant goers from a central location. Singing and dancing or just watching, is the agenda at Fisherman’s Village. Be sure to visit both places when you are in beautiful Punta Gorda.

We have visited several attractive & interesting communities in Southwest Florida. During these travels, I would look for interesting subjects to paint. I found myself so excited in telling friends about these beautiful places, I decided why not use some of my past skills, so I signed up for classes in real estate. Now, I can share this adventure of living in Florida with others. I have my real estate license and am enjoying selling real estate and showing customers the magic of Florida.
